Human Resources Manager | Amsted Industries | Granite City, IL

Amsted Rail Company is the world's leading manufacturer of undercarriage rail car components for heavy haul freight rail cars. We have an immediate open in our Granite City facility for a Human Resources Manager.
  1.  Maintain employee relations and morale in keeping with the Value of the Person philosophy and establish programs to foster a positive environment that motivates employees.
  2. Maintain effective and harmonious relations with representatives of four unions and with bargaining unit employees.
  3. Advise plant management regarding labor agreements, policies, OSHA standards, safety, and informs management of relevant changes in contracts, policies, and regulations.
  4. Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and safety.
  5. Prepare for and participate in labor contract negotiations.
  6. Plan and oversee personnel activities.
  7. Insure that vacant positions are filled in a timely manner with well qualified individuals and maintain a pool of qualified applicants; coordinate employee training and development programs to maintain a highly trained workforce.
  8. Maintain relations with government agencies and community organizations.
  9. Undertake special projects assigned by the Manager of Safety and Human Resources.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field Knowledge of Human Resource activities including employment processes concerning recruitment and orientation, collective bargaining, benefits administration, affirmative action, job analysis, equal employment opportunity practices, labor relations, resolving grievances, Human Resource policies and other  applicable  state and federal regulations.  Significant knowledge of labor laws, OSHA standards, workers compensation, and contract negotiations and computer software applications.

Ten to fifteen years of experience in labor, employment law, and Human Resources Management.

Excellent managerial and communication skills.

Ability to direct and motivate people, work well in a team environment, organized, responsible, self-motivated, provide recommendations to enhance operations and facilitate growth for the organization through employee involvement; sound judgment and leadership ability essential.
